What is brushed stainless steel ? Properties, brushing, usefulness !
28 février 2024Brushed stainless steel is a versatile material used in a wide range of sectors, including food processing, interior and exterior fittings, and the automotive industry. But why is stainless steel so popular, and what are its everyday uses?
What is brushed stainless steel ?
304L brushed stainless steel is an alloy of several metals, containing 50% iron, at least 10.5% chromium, carbon and other elements such as nickel and molybdenum. This combination of components makes this material a non-oxidizing alloy.
Brushed stainless steel sheet has a sober, matt appearance. Worked with a 220 grain, its refined surface gives it an aesthetic allure, perfect for embellishing your spaces.
The advantages of brushed stainless steel
- Its resistance to corrosion, weather and heat. Its components form a natural protective layer, enabling it to withstand external aggression.
- Its robustness makes this material a durable choice. This metal resists impact well, and does not give way easily under the weight of a heavy load.
- Easy to maintain, brushed stainless steel is omnipresent in our environment and highly appreciated by appliance designers.
Different uses for brushed stainless steel
Among its many properties, its hygienic aspect is certainly one of the most important, making it suitable for food use. Also known as food-grade stainless steel, this metal is often used for worktops, for example. Brushed stainless steel kitchen splashbacks are also available, as this finish is not very sensitive to scratches.
Indoors, brushed stainless steel is ideal for floor or door protection. Outdoors, it is appreciated by designers for its resistance to rust, and is used for railings.
